Who is FORTE?
If you have a child in Lindbergh's Strings Program (whether he/she is in 4th grade, 12th grade, or anything in between), YOU are part of FORTE! We are a group of parents and teachers who work together to provide support for our string family!
What does FORTE do?
We are fortunate enough to have little to no activity fees associated with joining the strings program at our schools, and with just a little fundraising throughout the years, we have been able to do many great things.
From scholarships for high school seniors, to entry fees for auditions and festivals at the middle and high school level, to the availability of accessories like mutes, rock stops, and shoulder rests to borrow when needed at the elementary and middle school level, Forte has helped every level of students. In addition, we've provided travel expenses for the teachers to attend enrichment programs like the MMEA (Missouri Music Educators Association) Conference and for the students to perform at special events as well as Free Tickets to students and their families to the St. Louis Youth Symphony.
We've helped with summer orchestra scholarships, the cost of instrument repair and rental, alterations to high school orchestra uniforms, and extra costs for Strolling Strings to tour the elementary schools to promote the orchestra program. We have plans for even more amazing ways to support music education, but you'll have to come to one of our two meetings per school year to learn more and help vote on ideas! Why do we have FORTE?
Orchestra and band programs all over the country are in jeopardy of losing their funding. In Lindbergh, we are lucky to have such great performing arts with the district’s financial support. Forte wants to be foundational in the growth of the program to foster participation and persistence for as long as the students have interest in the pursuit of playing strings.
